Airborne Cadence Call: C-130 Rolling down the strip, (Strip, i.e. Air Strip or Runway) Airborne soldier on a one-way trip. (One way; not returning with Aircraft) Mission top-secret, destination unknown, (Often mission destinations are not known) I don't even know if I'll ever get home. (Death on the Battle Field?) Stand up hook up, shuffle to the door, (Hook up the parachute static Line, walk to aircraft door) Jump right out and count to four. (Jump out, count 4 seconds: parachute should be open then) If my chute don't open wide, (Parachutes are not perfect, they can malfuntion) I've got another one my by side. (Jumpers have a reserve chute just incase) If that one should fail me too, (Two Strikes and you're out here) Look out Leg, I'm landin' on You! ("Leg" = Non-Airborne personnel; (my version of song)) If I die on the old drop zone, (Drop Zone; parachute landing area like Sicily) Box me up and ship me home (box = Casket) Pin my Wings upon my chest, (Airborne wings, All Airborne are very proud of these) And tell my Son I did my best 'Cause I'm Airborne, All the way (All The Way - Airborne Motto) PT Every Day, (PT= Physical Training; we sang this song, among many others, while running, to Keep everyone in-step) A - All The Way I - In the Sky R - Runnin' Hard B - Born to Run O - On the Go R - Rough and Tough N - Never Quit E - Every Day
