Mike is rolling up the sleeves of his BDU Jacket (BDU = Battle Dress Uniform, i.e. his Shirt) To do this the military way you had to take your shirt off. We always rolled down our sleeves for a parachute jump, no matter how hot it was; Safety First. Having your sleeves down would give your skin a little more protection in case you got dragged across the ground by your parachute or landed in the trees.
